Illinois Science Assessment (ISA): 5th & 8th Grade
In compliance with federal testing requirements, Illinois will administer a science assessment (ISA) to students enrolled in a public school district in grades 5, 8 and 11. The assessment will be administered in an online format and is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for Science incorporating the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), which were adopted in 2014.
Skinner’s ISA dates are April 18-20, 2023.
Children cannot study for a standardized assessment like they would for a regular classroom test, but there are ways you can help your student prepare to do their best:
- Ensure your child attends school regularly so that they don’t miss out on important instruction
- Speak with your child about testing so that they understand why doing their best is important
- Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep the night before the assessment
- Ensure your child arrives to school on time on the day of the assessment
- Remind your child to take their time, listen to and read all directions, and tackle one question at a time
- Help your child maintain a positive mindset by reminding them of their strengths and accomplishments
We are committed to your child’s academic success. Please reach out to Mrs. Milroy ( ksmilroy@cps.edu) with any questions about this assessment.
Sincerely,
Dr. Bush

Kindergarten Registration School Year 2023- 2024:
|
|
Safety is always one of our District’s top priorities, and CPS is committed to using appropriate procedures to provide a safe environment for all students and staff. One of the ways these procedures are enforced is through the adoption of policies that outline how staff should properly engage with students during the school day.
On June 22, 2022, the Board adopted the Behavioral Interventions, Physical Restraints, Time Outs, and Momentary Physical Intervention for Students Policy which sets requirements, restrictions, and procedures related to the use of physical restraints, isolated time out, time out, and momentary physical intervention in CPS schools.
